Boy, 7, writes a letter asking kids to boycott McDonald's Happy Meals and his reason is impressive

Image
A 7-year-old boy has started a revolution after he asked his fellow students to boycott McDonald's Happy Meals. William Weir wrote an open letter to McDonald's demanding they ditch plastic toys which are given away with their happy meals because they pollute the environment. William told his mum Carrie, 41, that he wanted to write to the burger chain after she told him how bad the toys were for the planet. He went on to write the letter and his mother promised to send it to McDonald's and also share it in some online sites. Then an excited William went to school and told everyone about it and his teachers invited him to read his letter during assembly to Dunchurch Infant School's 170 pupils. Many of the students agreed with the content of the letter and are now joining him in taking a stand. Ian Dewes, the executive headteacher at Dunchurch Infant school and Nursery, was so impressed by the way William spoke to the school that he believes he could have

Federal Judge restores CNN reporterJim Acosta's White House press pass

Image
A federal judge today ruled that the White House must restore the press pass it stripped last week from CNN's chief White House correspondent, Jim Acosta. Judge Timothy Kelly ruled that Jim Acosta's free-press rights under the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution outweigh "the government’s interest in orderly, respectful press conferences''. He went on to add that the White House failed to give Acosta "due process," something guaranteed in government proceedings under the Fifth Amendment. And he suggested that the White House exaggerated when it claimed that Acosta "placed his hands" on a female intern last week as she tried to reclaim a press conference microphone.  While Kelly ordered the White House to let Acosta back in the building, he said Trump and his spokespeople aren't obligated to call on him during press conferences or let him ask questions. Kelly, a Trump appointee, emphasized that his ruling was temporary, say

Biotech holding company Roivant Sciences raised $200M in funding at a whopping $7B valuation

Image
Roivant Sciences  has had a bumpy couple of years, but that isn’t stopping investors from pouring more money into the four-year-old company, which aims to one day be a giant parent company for dozens of independent biopharmaceutical spinoffs — and is fulfilling that vision by creating one independent company at a time. Roivant’s newest financing event: a $200 million raise at a post-money valuation of $7 billion, led by NovaQuest Capital Management, which is an investor in two of Roivant’s companies; RTW Investments, an investment firm focused on biopharma; an unnamed “large U.S. insurance company;” and an unnamed “big U.S. investment firm,” according to a company spokesman. The round follows a  $1.1 billion round  led last year by SoftBank’s Vision Fund, which Roivant now says was closed at a post-money valuation of $5.6 million, though it didn’t necessarily look like money well spent at the time. To wit, r oughly one month after the financing closed last August,

Essential enters dongle hell with a $149 audiophile-grade headphone adapter Share Tweet

Image
We know, you miss your headphone jack. Like other smartphones, the  Essential Phone  has done away with the feature, but the company has just launched its  long-touted  external headphone adapter and DAC, which magnetically snaps on to the back of your phone. To be fair, Essential's adapter doesn't claim to be  like the other plasticky dongles , which are a fraction of the price. Essential claims its titanium adapter "sports an audiophile-grade amp that can drive audiophile-grade headphones" thus providing "studio quality audio performance."  At the time of writing, the accessory has sold out, with stock to be replenished next week. It's a different outcome to Essential's first phone, the PH-1,  which sold poorly  following delays. Still, Essential is  reportedly working on a new phone  which will be controlled entirely by your voice, which it is looking to unveil next year at CES.  And it ain't cheap: The  Audio Adapter HD  wil

HIV-infected soldier arrested after raping more than 70 teenage boys

Image
Police have arrested an HIV-infected soldier identified as Sgt. Maj.  Jakkrit Khomsing  who allegedly blackmailed and raped more than 70 teenage boys in Thailand.   Police said in a statement that they received a complaint that Khomsing was using fake social media profiles on Facebook and the gay dating app Blued to win the trust of his victims. Police Lt. Col. Nacharot Kaewpetch said the victims would send their nude photos to Khomsing before agreeing to meet him. When they found out he was not who he pretended to be online, he would threaten to make their nude photos public if they refused to have sex with him. Kaewpetch said police discovered medicine for treating HIV when they arrested the 43-year-old Khomsing at his home on Wednesday in the northeastern province of Khon Kaen.  They said tests confirmed he was infected with HIV. So far police have determined that Khomsing had more than 70 victims between the ages of 13 and 18. “Even though the suspect is a soldier,

Mess up what the Devil has been doing in 20 years in your Life with 20 minutes of Fire.

Man wanted to clothe himself when God clothed him with glory. Man can't meet his own needs without God. Adam sowed a fig leave rage but God killed an animal. The covenant was made by the blood and the fur was used as the clothing as suit. Fear connects with death. Faith in God  is Faith in God. Fear is Faith in the Devil. Romans 8:1 if you walk on your 5 senses the devil will condemn you. Walk after the word of God. Physical body gives you facts about reality of your problem. How Osinbajo has saved APC, Buhari – Dele Momodu warns against dumping VP

Image
Media Mogul, Dele Momodu on Tuesday said Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is the reason some Nigerians still have hope in President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration. Momodu stated this while describing Osinbajo as pillar of APC administration who has made significant achievement in the past few years. He noted that Nigerians would not have noticed the weakness of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration if Yemi Osinbajo was made to perform professionally, citing his period while as acting president. He, however, pointed out that Osinbajo has not been able to perform at his best because of “banal politics of parochialism in the country.” Momodu on his Twitter page wrote: “I love our Vice President PROFESSOR YEMI OSINBAJO for many reasons, smart, intelligent, cerebral, God-fearing, energetic, and so on… He is one of the reasons many of us placed high hopes in the BUHARI Government. “He and a few others have made significant contributions to the modest achievements of this

8 big questions for Election Day

Image
The election is today! The election is today! And, yes, obviously I am super excited about it. I waited two years for today -- when we can see what the country thinks about President Donald Trump, the Republican majorities in Congress, the Democratic minority and the general state of the country. No election answers every question. And every election poses new questions we weren't even thinking about 24 hours earlier. But  national elections  are a pinch point in our long-running national experiment with democracy. They allow us to stop, look and think -- about where we were, where we're going and why, why, why people act and vote like they do. (Like I said, elections don't answer all of those questions.) Below, eight questions I hope this election answers. And because you've got a lot going on -- the election is today! -- I've added just a single sentence (or two) after each for the sake of context. 1. How hard will women turn against Trump?  In
