The sons of murdered journalist Jamal Khashoggi issued an emotional appeal for the return of their father's body, in their first interview since he was killed in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul a month ago. Salah and Abdullah Khashoggi, who called their father "courageous, generous and very brave," said they have endured weeks of anguish and uncertainty following his disappearance and death. "I really hope that whatever happened wasn't painful for him, or it was quick. Or he had a peaceful death," Abdullah Khashoggi, 33, told CNN during a sit-down interview in Washington with his brother, Salah, 35. Read more www.cnnnews.com

A bizarre statue of  Liverpool  forward  Mohamed Salah  has been unveiled in his home country in Egypt. The bizarre sculpture went on display at the World Youth Forum in  Sharm El Sheikh  on Sunday. The artwork, created by Mai Abdel Allah, represent Salah who is the current African best footballer as a great example of dedication and determination, and it is said to have taken a month to create the tribute piece. The sculptor told the Egypt Independent that the statue is 'opening his arms to the fans' after scoring goals but one Twitter user questioned why the 'body what that of an eight-year-old' was used. The Twitter user said: 'Did they run out of material for the body for the Mo Salah statue? Why does he have the body of an 8 year old?' See full photos of the bizarre statue below.

4-year-old girl is gang-raped by hospital worker and four others while in intensive care in India

A 4-year-old girl was admitted to the intensive care unit of a hospital in India to treat snakebite, but while there, she was gang-raped by a hospital worker and 4 other men. The child was being treated in a private hospital in Uttar Pradesh, India, when she was attacked. Police official Mahesh Srivastava said the girl told her grandmother she was raped by a hospital attendant and four others on Saturday night. Sky News reported that one man is in custody and police are still looking for others. Detectives have asked for CCTV footage and are trying to establish why the child was left alone in the ICU.

23-year-old Nigerian footballer dies from heart attack during a match in Turkey

A  23-year-old Nigerian footballer,   Ekundayo Ebenezer Mawoyeka   has died after suffering a heart attack during a Saturday match in   Turkey. The young striker who plays for   Sarayköyspor   in the Super Amateur League collapsed in the 35th minute of the game against   Ye?ilköyspor at the Servergazi Stadium and was rushed to the Servergazi State Hospital where he was confirmed dead. According to Turkish website,Haberturk, the match was abandoned due to the incident. Denizli Amateur Sports Clubs Federation President   Feyyaz Ce?en , said in a statement, that  the club is sad about what had happened

Apostle Chris Omatsola, whose sex tape went viral, has been forced to relocate his church after he began receiving threats following the release of the sex video. After the sex video went viral, the lady featured in the video, Princess Tamaratokoni Okpe, claimed it was Omatsola himself who leaked the video to get back at her for breaking off their engagement (read  here ). But Omatsola has denied being responsible. On the day the video went viral, Omatsola took to Facebook to ask his members to pray for him. Wife of FRCN staff who committed suicide in Lagos lagoon speaks, says only God knows why he killed himself

Mrs Zainab Oladejo, the wife of Rauf Oladejo, a staff of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, says she is still in shock over the news of her husband taking his own life by jumping into the lagoon last Friday. Rauf, a driver with the corporation, was newly transferred from the FRCN training school in Shogunle to the Broadcasting house in Lagos. The sexagenarian and father of eight, was on his way to work, driving the company's brown Toyota Corolla when he stopped on the third mainland bridge, pretending to be pressed and that he needed to urinate. Suddenly, he jumped, headfirst, from the bridge into the Lagoon. His remains was later recovered in the lagoon by men of the Lagos state Emergency Management Authority, Marine Police, Lagos State Waterways Authority and Rapid Response Squad. ASUU embarks on indefinite strike

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has announced the commencement of an indefinite nationwide strike with immediate effect. The decision was announced at the end of an emergency meeting on Sunday night. This came just as the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) is also preparing to commence a nationwide strike on Tuesday, October 6th, 2018 over a disagreement between the organised labour union and the governments on the N30,000 minimum wage. Briefing newsmen after the closed-door meeting, ASUU president, Professor Biodun Ogunyemi, said the strike will be total and with immediate effect. He listed the reasons for their action to include: Failure on the side of the government to honour the Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, signed between the union and the federal government in 2017.
