Pharrell Williams not 'Happy,' threatens to sue Trump for using song after mass killing

Pharrell Williams is not happy that President Donald Trump used his song and has told him to stop using his songs at his campaign rallies, reports  USA TODAY . The singer, 45, sent a cease-and-desist letter to Trump after the president played his 2014 hit “Happy” at a political event on Saturday, just hours after nearly a dozen people were gunned down in a Pittsburgh synagogue. “On the day of the mass murder of 11 human beings at the hands of a deranged ‘nationalist,’ you played his song ‘Happy’ to a crowd at a political event in Indiana,” Williams’ lawyer, Howard King, wrote in the letter obtained by  USA TODAY.  Williams’ legal team noted that the use of the song was not only poorly timed, but in violation of “copyright infringement” and “trademark rights. “There was nothing ‘happy’ about the tragedy inflicted upon our country on Saturday and no permission was granted for your use of this song for this purpose,” the ...

Amosun has impoverished Ogun, APC chieftain alleges

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State, Mr Bolaji Akinola, has accused Governor Ibikunle Amosun of impoverishing the state, describing the governor as the real problem of the APC in the state. Akinola claimed that the way and manner Amosun carried on in the state, particularly his alleged habit of hand-picking and imposing candidates on the APC, should be a source of concern to all well-meaning APC members. Donald Trump plans to revoke the birthright citizenship which allows children of non-citizens and illegal immigrants born in the US to become automatic citizens. The US President referred to the law as "ridiculous" during an interview for Axios on HBO and said he wants to sign an executive order ending birthright citizenship. Trump has always criticized the so-called "anchor babies" and now that he is president, he plans to do something about it. He said: We're the only country in the world where a person comes in and has a baby, and the baby is essentially a citizen of the United States... with all of those benefits. It's ridiculous. BPE to raise N300b for Budget 2018 funding

The Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) will generate over N300 billion from privatisation and commercialisation to support the 2018 budget financing, its Director-General Dr Alex Okoh said yesterday. Okoh spoke in Lagos at the Stakeholders Media Interactive Forum organised by the Enterprise and the Stakeholders Engagement Committee of the National Council on Privatisation (SEC-NCP). The BPE plans to generate N300 billion into the 2018 budget through the sale of some national assets, such as  the Afam Power Plant in Rivers State, Geregu, Calabar and Omotosho National Independent Power Projects, re-privatisation of the Yola Distribution Company, River Basin Development Authorities and the National Parks. Some of the transactions in the pipeline include the concession of Warri Old Port, the reconcession of the Lagos International Trade Fair Complex, the sale of Afam Power Plant and three National Independent Power Projects. Most first-time buyers of shared ownership properties will now no longer pay stamp duty, under the measures unveiled. Chancellor Philip Hammond said Britain's housing market needs to be fixed, adding it was key to boosting UK productivity and pushing up living standards. The UK is facing a shortage of housing. The number of homes on the market  is at a 10-year low  and  fewer people  are taking out mortgages. So what has the chancellor said he is going to do about it? Was there any help for first-time buyers? In last year's Autumn Budget, the  chancellor abolished stamp duty  - a tax you pay if you buy property or land - for first-time buyers buying a home worth up to £300,000.
